A sign at the head of the road to the Austrian ski resort of Baad in the Austrian valley Kleinwalsertal near Oberstdorf, Germany says the road is closed because of the danger of avalanches February 10. Several hundred locals and tourists have been holed up in the village since saturday. After heavy snowfall over the last few days several ski resorts in the Alps are now inaccessible.
