This flowing dress with chainmail covering head and shoulders is part of the Givenchy autumn/winter 1999/2000 high fashion collection which was presented July 18 entirely by using plastic mannequins which appeared from trap-doors in the stage and lit only by spotlights. The Givenchy collection is by British designer Alexander McQueen and is inspired by a 19th century painting by Paul Delaroche depicting the execution of Lady Jane Gray, a great-niece of Henry VIII.
