the President of the European Commission Romano Prodi July 21, 2001
during a G8 summit session in the Palazzo Ducale. The Group of Eight
leaders went ahead with their summit, dismissing calls to cancel it
after police shot dead an Italian protester during violent
anti-capitalist unrest on its opening day.
