Armed Italian Carabinieri pass the luxury cruise liner moored to
provide accommodation for the the G8 leaders as they patrol Genoa's old
harbour July 17, 2001 to guard against attack. Besides possible
attacks, the Italian authorities are also preparing to deal with an
expected 120,000 anti-globalization demonstrators during the summit
which starts on July 20, 2001.
