Guatemalan Nobel Peace prize laureate Rigoberta Menchu attends an event in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the storming and burning of the Spanish embassy in Guatemala City, January 31, 2010. A small group of native Mayans occupied the Spanish embassy on January 31, 1980 in a peaceful protest demanding rights from the government for the indigenous people. A fire broke out in the embassy when local authorities, ordered by former Guatemalan Interior Minister Donaldo Alvarez, stormed in.
