Each year thousands of Guatemalan, indian and no indian, gather in San Andres Ixtapa, Chimaltenango, some 30 mile West of the Capital, to celebrate Maximon. The deity is a mixture between spanish-catholic tradition and the local Mayan tradition. Their followers belive that Maximon can help them in love, money and business aspects.
