East Timorese militia leader Eurico Guterres waves as he leaves a Jakarta courtroom after judges read the charges against him January 2, 2001. The 27-year old Guterres, who heads the feared Aitarak militia, is accused of inciting a rampage in East Timor in September. Guterres is also being investigated over the bloodshed before and after East Timor's vote for independence from Indonesia.
