CONFERENCE IN BEIJING.
Dr. John S. MacKenzie, a virologist with the World Health Organisation,
holds a news conference in Beijing on the latest of the severe acute
respiratory syndrome (SARS) March 24, 2003. The virus, killed 18 people
worldwide and infected hundreds, has spread to Hong Kong, Vietnam,
Singapore, Canada and Germany after first showing up in southern China
late last year. Suspected cases have been reported in the United
