24 Jan. 2003
Farmington, United States of America
Dr. Marcia Trape (L) of the University of Connecticut Health Center
pushes the smallpox vaccine immunization needle into the arm of Dr.
James Hadler (R) in front of the news media January 24, 2003 at the
Health Center in Farmington, Connecticut. Hadler became the first
volunteer participant in the U.S. Government's national plan to
vaccinate up to 500,000 health care workers and emergency workers
against the dangers of a smallpox outbreak that might result from a
terror attack. Trape had been immunized privately early in the day in
order to safely administer the vaccine. REUTERS/Jim Bourg
