Filipina maids chant "no to wage cut" as they joins thousands of other
during a protest in Hong Kong January 13, 2002 against a potential wage
cut. Hong Kong government will soon deliberate on whether to cut the
meagre wages of a legion of hard-worked foreign maids. With the
territory facing its second recession in four years, employers of some
233,110 maids have been putting pressure on the government to cut the
minimum wage of less than US$500 a month for "domestic helpers".
