FOREIGN MAIDS CARRY PLACARD AGAINST WAGE CUT IN HONG KONG.
Foreign maids carry a placard as they join thousands of others during a
protest in Hong Kong January 13, 2002 against a potential wage cut.
Hong Kong government will soon deliberate on whether to cut the meagre
wages of a legion of hard-worked foreign maids. With the territory
facing its second recession in four years, employers of some 233,110
maids have been putting pressure on the government to cut the minimum
wage of less than US$500 a month for "domestic helpers". REUTERS/Bobby
