REPRESENTATIVES FROM WATCH INDUSTRY PROTEST AGAINST SWITZERLAND IN HONG
KONG.
Representatives from Hong Kong's jewellery and watch industry protest
outside the Swiss consulate in Hong Kong April 16, 2003 after the
European country barred its exhibitors from a trade fair over fears
they could spread the deadly Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)
virus. Businessmen said they could lose out on HK$10 billion (US$1.28
billion) in orders. Hong Kong is the second largest jewellery and watch
exporter in the world, and banning its traders from the World Jewellery
& Watch Fair Basel/Zurich 2003 in Switzerland could deal another blow
to the territory's ailing economy. REUTERS/Bobby Yip
