Italian tanker "Ievoli Sun" with 6.000 tonnes of toxic chemical on board sinks in the Channel as it was being towed to the French port of Cherbourg October 31, 2000. The tanker, whose 14 crew had been helicoptered to safety on Monday, sank 11 miles (18 km) northwest of the Channel island of Alderney.
