INDIA CHILD LABOURERS TAKE PART IN A PROTEST RALLY IN NEW DEHLI.
Indian child labourers shout slogans for abolition of child labour during a rally in New Delhi November 20. More than 200 child labourers and schoolchildren took part in the rally and formed a human chain to urge people to cast votes in state elections only for those candidates who back their pledge against child labour. According to the government estimates some 18 million children work instead of going to schools but children's rights activists estimate that there are about 55 million children working in hazardous industries like match-making, quarrying, tanning and firework manufacturing among others. India aims to eradicate child labour by 2020.
