Police detain a victim of the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy, a gas leak from a Union Carbide pesticide plant that killed at least 3,500 people, during a protest in New Delhi August 2, 2010. Police detained hundreds of victims at a protest after they crossed the given deadline to leave the protest spot, a police official said. The protesters demanded the government revisit its recent decisions on issues of compensation, rehabilitation of victims and take legal action against U.S. chemical firm Union Carbide and its parent company Dow Chemicals.
