INDIAN SOLDIER FRISKS A KASHIMIRI IN SRINAGAR.
An Indian soldier (R) frisks a Kashmiri youth in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir January 5. Indian security forces have intensified the search operations to flush out separatist militants after an increase in violence in India's restive state of Jammu and Kashmir since the beginning of the Islamic holy month of Ramdan, which started on December 10. According to police 181 persons including 80 separatist miltants, 59 civilians and 42 Indian security force personnel have been killed in seperate incidents of violence in the Himalayan state since then.
