A procession led by Hindu pilgrims ahead of the "Kumbh Mela" in the holy city of Allahabad on January 8, 2001. The pilgrims are demanding that a temple dedicated to the Hindu God Ram be erected on the site where the Babri Mosque once stood in the city of Ayodhya. Crowds have already started arriving before the start of the six- week Pitcher Festival, which India's government estimates will be visited by at least 30 million Hindu pilgrims.
