A TRIBAL WOMEN ATTENDS A DEMONSTRATION IN BOMBAY.
A gypsy woman from the 'Banjara' tribe, wears rings and ornaments made from one-rupee coins during a demonstration in Bombay, January 5. Tribals living in rural areas all over central and southern India want the government to build schools and provide drinking water in their settlements. They also want 'Scheduled Tribe' status which means that a certain percentage of governmental jobs as well as seats in educational institutions should be reserved for them.
