SUDHA BALA MONDAL HOLDS A POSTER DURING A PROTEST IN CALCUTTA.
Sudha Bala Mondal, a 65-year old widow holds a poster during a protest by hardline Hindu groups in the eastern Indian city of Calcutta February 18. Last month, Hindu groups set fire to the sets of a movie in the northern state of Varanasi saying the film denigrated Indian culture. Critics said they objected to the film because it suggested that up until the thirties, several widows, mostly from eastern state of West Bengal, were often led into prostitution. Mehta was scheduled to visit Calcutta on Friday but she postponed her visit.
