KASHMIRI HINDUS HOLD BANNERS WHILE A MOCK PYRE BURNS IN BOMBAY.
Kashmiri Hindus in Bombay hold banners demanding Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee's resignation as a mock pyre symbolising the alleged death of the country's troubled state of Jammu and Kashmir is lit by members of 'Panun Kashmir', an organisation formed by Hindus from Kashmir, January 4. More than 400,000 Hindus fled Kashmir 11 years ago when an armed uprising erupted in the troubled Himalayan border state. The protest in Bombay was also organised to condemn the release of three Kashmiri terrorists by the government in exchange for the lives of 150 hostages from the plane hijacked on December 24.
