A ROYAL BENGAL TIGER STARES AT VISITORS TO A ZOO IN CALCUTTA.
A Royal Bengal Tiger stares at visitors at a zoo in the eastern Indian
city of Calcutta on December 10, 2001. Indian forest officials are
currently carrying out a census in the riverine Sunderbans delta, home
to many man-eating tigers. A 1999 tiger census carried out in the
Sunderbans, which is at least 100 km (62 miles) south of Calcutta,
showed that there were 284 tigers in the delta. NO RIGHTS CLEARANCES OR PERMISSIONS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS IMAGE
