An Indian special policeman stands guard after one person was killed
and four wounded in the village of Taldi, 60km south (37 miles) of
Calcutta March 10, 2002. Police opened fire on Hindu activists who
turned violent when they were stopped from holding a prayer meeting, a
government official said. Activists started pelting stones injuring 25
policemen and others. The police had to open fire to control the mob,"
