A sister of the Missionaries of Charity carries an orphan near a photo
of Mother Teresa, who founded the Shishu Bhavan orphanage in 1956, in
the eastern Indian city of Calcutta on September 29, 2003. More than
300 children, many of them handicapped, are cared for by the
Missionaries of Charity, started by Mother Teresa 53 years ago. The
Nobel peace prize winning nun, who died six years ago at the age of 87,
will be beatified on October 19 by Pope John Paul. Beatification is the
