An Indian family shares an umbrella on the roof of their house in the
flooded district of Silguri, about 600 kms (375 miles) north of Calcutta,
July 9, 2003. Surging river waters and landslides killed at least 48 people
in eastern India over the past two days and left more than 215,000 homeless
as monsoon rains lashed the flood-prone region, officials said on Wednesday.
