Indian workers paint the statue of Indian National Army leader Subhas Chandra Bose in the eastern Indian city of Calcutta January 21, 2004. Bose led the INA, a renagade Indian army that, with backing of Japanese troops, invaded northeast India in 1944 from neighbouring Burma to free India from British coloniall rule. The INA was later defeated by British-led loyal Indian soldiers. Bose's birthday on January 23 is a holiday in his home state of West Bengal, where he is revered. REUTERS/Sucheta Das JS/FA
