Farmers remove boiled turmeric rhizomes from a cauldron in Gove village
Farmers remove boiled turmeric rhizomes from a cauldron in Gove village in India's western Maharashtra state February 25, 2009. Turmeric growers scattered across the southern states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, have pinned their hopes on higher prices in a year of lower output for the yellow spice. The crop is cultivated from May and the lengthy harvesting process begins in December in India, the world's biggest producer, exporter and consumer of the spice. Picture taken February 25, 2009.
