Supporters of Indonesian Vice President Megawati Sukarnoputri's
Indonesian Democratic Party-Struggle (PDIP) rally on top of a bus
outside the central Jakarta hotel where the party's three day congress
was held July 14, 2001. The party said on Saturday it was in favour of
early impeachment hearings against President Abdurrahman Wahid. The
country's highest legislative body, the People's Consultative Assembly
(MPR), was scheduled to convene a special session on August 1 to hear
Wahid's account for his 20-month rule and to consider impeaching him.
