ABDURRAHMAN WAHID WALK WITH HIS DAUGHTER IN JAKARTA.
Abdurrahman Wahid, founder of the Nation Awakening Party, walk with his daughter Zarnubah Wahid (R) after a meeting in the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) in Jakarta October 3. Wahid has been viewed as a possible compromise presidential candidate if the frontrunner, former opposition leader Megawati Soekarnoputri, proves unacceptable to the newly-formed assembly. If Wahid becomes speaker, he will be out of the running for the presidency, leaving the deeply unpopular incumbent B.J. Habibie, as Megawati's only serious rival for the leadership.
