Indonesian police arrest a student protester after police fired tear gas to break up a protest in Jakarta June 19, 2001. The students were demonstrating over fuel price hikes and injuries sustained by their classmates in a clash with security forces the previous day. The government raised fuel prices by 30 percent last week, a measure which has prompted bus driver strikes and protests across the country.
