IRANIAN WOMAN STANDS IN FRONT OF MASUMA SHRINE IN QOM.
An Iranian woman stands outside the Masuma shrine in the holy town of Qom some 150 km from Tehran February 15. Iran's conservative clerics, seeking to forestall a victory for President Khatami's reformers in Friday's parliamentary elections, warned voters on Tuesday that the country's Islamic values were in danger. A massive 6,000 candidates are contesting the 290 seats in the first round, with multiple-member constituencies in the main cities giving voters a bewildering array of choices.
