Britain's Prime Minister Tony Blair leaves Downing Street in London for
meetings in Madrid and the United States, January 30, 2003. Britain on
Thursday cranked up a diplomatic mission that aimed to show that there
was a broad support in Europe for a U.S.-led war against Iraq but
powerful allies France and Germnay remained firmly out of the loop.
