ASKAR ABBAS ALI STANDS IN MAKESHIFT CEMETERY IN BASRA.
Iraqi Askar Abbas Ali, 67, stands in the makeshift cemetery in Basra
where bodies of Iraqis who died during the war to oust Saddam Hussein
were temporarily buried, May 25,2003. According to local Shi'ite
custom, the bodies will be later reburied at the holy city of Najaf.
Ali is in charge of burials and maintaining the cemetery, and has kept
