Iraqi American poll workers in Michigan prepare to register Iraqis to vote for their national election....
Poll workers Atheir Amarrah (back L), Amar Al Salamy (C) and Zeina Choumane set up a registration table as they wait for Iraqi citizens to arrive and register to vote in the upcoming Iraqi national elections, in Southgate, Michigan January 17, 2005. Iraqis living outside the country can vote in the election if they are over 18 years old and were born in Iraq, or if their father was born in Iraq. Michigan has around 90,000 Iraqi Americans eligible to vote. Shakarchi has lived in the U.S. for 22 years after being exiled under the Saddam Hussein regime. Voting will take place January 28-30.
