A MUSEUM OFFICIAL EXAMINES VIKING ITEMS FOUND IN THE IRISH REPUBLIC.
National Museum of Ireland's Assistant Keeper Andy Halpin examines one of a set of unique conical-shaped silver items at Dublin's National Museum of Ireland on January 14. Among the 43 items found in County Kilkenny, South East of Ireland, there are 16 conical-shaped silver wire thread objects unique in the Viking world dating from 940-970. The find also included silver coins minted in Chester and York, silver and bronze ingots as well as various bracelets, belt buckles and strap ends.
