Holocaust survivors Yitzhak and Rina Birnhak sit in their home in Haifa
Holocaust survivors Yitzhak and Rina Birnhak, both Polish-born, sit in their home in the northern city of Haifa, ahead of Israel's Holocaust Remembrance Day, April 9, 2010. Yitzhak and Rina met in Krakow, Poland during World War Two and were among more than 1,000 Jews taken in by German industrialist Oskar Schindler. Spared death thanks to Schindler's insistence that German authorities leave them in his employ -- their names appeared on the now-famous "Schindler's List" -- rather than deport them to concentration camps. The couple wed in British-ruled Palestine in 1946 and today have two children, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Picture taken April 9, 2010.
