HIJACKER REZA JABBARI SELLS SHOES IN EILAT.
Reza Jabbari, an Iranian airline steward who hijacked a plane to Israel in 1995, poses as he sells shoes in Eilat August 4, 2000, a sunny Israeli resort town after his release from an Israeli jail. Speaking in broken Hebrew, Jabbari, 34, who is on probation after serving half of an eight-year term, said he had commandeered the plane to Israel because it was a democracy. Israel let the plane land at an air base, later freeing the aircraft, its 176 passengers and crew to return to Iran but holding Jabbari.
