ASHBY LEAVES COURT-MARTIAL AFTER SENTENCING.
Marine Capt. Richard Ashby walks out of the courtroom at Camp Lejeune, May 10 after a military jury sentenced him to six months in prison and dismissal from the service for conspiring to obstruct investigations into an accident that killed 20 people near an Italian ski village last year. After deliberating for about two hours, the jury also ordered Ashby to forfeit all pay while serving his prison sentence, the first handed down in three military courts-martial stemming from the February 1998 tragedy.
