The Wider Image: Fishing for crabs in Venice
Crabs are prepared to be cooked at Antiche Carampane restaurant in Venice, Italy, April 23, 2016. The lagoon of this canal-laced Italian city is a fishing mecca. For a few days every spring and autumn, it yields a very particular kind of catch and culinary treat. "Moleche" or "moeche" as they are called in Venetian dialect are young crabs that have shed their baby shells and have yet to grow their adult ones. The renewal process takes only a few hours - a small window during which the Venice Lagoon fishers cast their nets. REUTERS/Alessandro Bianchi SEARCH "ITALY CRAB" FOR THIS STORY.
