MPCI REBEL SOLDIERS TRAIN IN BOUAKE.
Young members of a special unit of the Patriotic Movement of Ivory
Coast (MPCI) rebel movement called "Warriors of the light" train in
Bouake, Ivory Coast, March 6, 2003. The unit is composed of 1,000 young
soldiers, most of them Dozos, traditional hunters from the north of the
country, known for their magical power. Civil war broke out after a
failed coup against President Laurent Gbagbo and well-armed rebels now
control northern and western parts of the world's biggest cocoa
producer. More than 3,000 French troops are policing a shaky ceasefire
line between rebels and loyalists. REUTERS /Luc Gnago
