A tiny crab, sea urchins, and shellfish, all Japanese delicacies, are coated with oil as they are washed ashore January 9 in Mikuni town on the Sea of Japan coast where heavy oil escaped from ruptured Russian tanker Nakhodka. The oil has spread 300km along the western Japanese shoreline threatening an environmental disaster.
