FAMILY AT MEMORIAL SERVICE ON THE FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE 1995 KOBE QUAKE.
Kenji Uoda (R) puts his hand to console his mother Chieri who cried after she made speech for his father Shinichiro, who was killed during the 1995 Kobe earthquake during a memorial service at Rainbow House in Kobe, western Japan January 16, on the eve of the earthquake that killed more than 6,000 people. Five years after Kobe was struck by a devastating earthquake, many victims still suffer deep psychological scars from the worst natural disaster to hit the nation in about three-quarters of a century.
