NEC AND HITACHI ANNOUNCE DRAM JOINT VENTURE IN TOKYO.
NEC Corporation Executive Vice President Kanji Sugihara (C) shakes hands with Hitachi Ltd Senior Vice President and Director Tadashi Ishibashi (R) as they pose for cameras with NEC's LSI Memory Operations Unit Vice President Kenji Tokuyama at a news conference in Tokyo November 29 announcing their new joint venture to develop and market dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) chips. The 50-50 venture, NEC-Hitachi Memory Inc, is scheduled to be set up at the end of December, with operations to begin from April 2000. Tokuyama will become president of the new company.
