North Carolina's Harriss & Covington Hosiery Mills President Ned Covington shows off athletic socks made from Ingeo fibre, the "world's first man-made fibre" produced from corn extrusion, at an introduction of the earth-friendly products in Tokyo November 8, 2005. A group of U.S. hosiery manufacturers including Covington's 85-year-old family business have joined together to offer to the Japanese market products made from Ingeo fibre, derived from agriculture-based material instead of oil-based substances.
