A model displays a prototype of a power supply for mobile phones using direct methanol fuel cell developed by Hitachi Ltd and au, KDDI's main mobile phone unit, at the International Fuel Cell Expo in Tokyo January 21, 2005. According to Hitachi, the prototype is capable of generating enough power for about two to three hours of voice communication and viewing television using the 5cc methanol solution.
