Mount Usu spews black smoke into the sky April 1 after the volcano erupted for the second time this week near the town of Sobetsu on Japan's northernmost main island of Hokkaido. The eruptions have forced the evacuation of 15,000 people and brought warnings of possible landslides from the snow-packed mountain.
