A truck carrying supplies passes through walls of snow after the Srinagar-Leh highway is thrown open for traffic in Zojila, 108 km (67 miles) east of Srinagar May 14, 2006. The 443 km (275 mile) long Srinagar-Leh highway was opened by Indian army authorities for traffic on Sunday after remaining snowbound at Zojila Pass, 3530 m (11581 feet) above sea level, for more than the past six months. The pass, which connects Kashmir with the Buddhist-dominated Ladakh region and is situated at a height of 3,505 m (11,499 feet), is a famous tourist destination among foreign tourists for its monasteries, landscapes and mountains.
