An Indian road construction labourer waits to receive food after a ceremony to open the Srinagar-Leh highway in Zojila, 108 km (67 miles) east of Srinagar May 14, 2006. The 443 km (275 mile) long highway was opened by Indian army authorities for traffic on Sunday after remaining snowbound at Zojila Pass, 3530 m (11581 feet) above sea level, for more than the past six months. The pass, which connects Kashmir with the Buddhist-dominated Ladakh region and is situated at a height of 3,505 m (11,499 feet), is a famous tourist destination among foreign tourists for its monasteries, landscapes and mountains.
