An Indian police officer removes a gun from a killed militant's body in Samba forests after a gun battle with Indian security forces in the northern troubled state of Jammu and Kashmir on August 8, 2000. Indian home Minister Lal Krishna Advani told the parliament on Wednesday that Indian security forces were ready to face the threat of renewed militancy in the state, where at least 30,000 people have died since the insurgency against Indian rule took off a decade ago.
