A woman takes a break from scavenging for recyclable materials at the Dandora Municipal Dumping Site in Kenya's capital Nairobi December 10, 2009. The dumping site was declared full and a health hazard for the neighbouring population in 2001 but chemical, hospital, industrial, agricultural and domestic waste are still dumped here and left unprocessed. A study commissioned by the Nairobi-based U.N. Environment Programme (UNEP) found that half of 328 children tested around the site had lead concentrations in their blood exceeding the internationally accepted level.
