An African elephant with a broken tusk in Kenya's Masai Mara game reserve.
An African elephant with a broken tusk is seen in Kenya's Masai Mara game reserve, 240 km (150 miles) west of Kenya's capital Nairobi in this picture taken on January 10, 2005. A new wave of poaching activities in key wildlife habitats in Kenya has killed several Elephants and Rhinos, the country's wildlife agency Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) said. Even though Kenya has declared its elephants and rhinos endangered species and banned any trade on them or their products, the animals remain highly vulnerable to poaching, despite efforts by KWS to safeguard them.
